Xtranormal lets you make videos in minutes

Posted in Experiments on April 10th, 2009 by Dilyan Damyanov

You no longer need cameras, or any other equipment apart from a computer, to make business video journalism! I made this video in less than 30 minutes using tools available free on Xtranormal and a news story published by the ADP News agency. (UPDATE – Full disclosure: I work for that agency.) I can’t recall when last I loved technology that much.

Thanks to @markmedia for pointing me at Xtranormal.

An experiment: trying out embedable Photosynth slideshows

Posted in Experiments on January 24th, 2009 by Dilyan Damyanov

Photosynth offers a great new way to experience pictures and to tell stories. If anyone would comment on whether they are required to install the software in order to see the slideshow, I’d be much obliged.

Join the conversation

Posted in Experiments on December 7th, 2008 by Dilyan Damyanov

If journalism is a conversation then how do the participants in it talk to each other? Is it enough for media companies to talk to their audiences? Why not allow the members of the public talk to each other, within the framework of the same conversation?

Google Friend Connect looks like a very promising tool to help in this respect. So let’s test in on our blogs and see if it would work on our news sites. Join this blog (find the widget in the sidebar on the homepage) or send me invites to join your sites. Thanks.
